I just tried what you explain in this tutorial, which I thought was really cool and easy, but my printer and pc still have some communication issues: pc knows printer is there but when pc sends information to be printed, printer ghosts it so bad. Pc says there’s an error, but I couldn’t find which was is. Then I found your page. I uninstalled printer and did everything your tutorial said, but when pc send a test page, printer didn’t respond. I have installed the basic driver manually and I have selected USB001 port, just as shown in the video. I am using just this printer and I have cleared the old/incomplete print jobs 馃檪
It seems like a perfect setting. Do one thing, go to your device manager and go to the USB section (Universal Serial Bus) and uninstall the “USB printing support” and then refresh the Device manager, it will reinstall automatically.
Try to put your USB cable into another port of the computer, maybe it should work.
I cannot find a file to install HP laserjet 1600 B/W for Mac. I have tried to reinstall it after connecting to my laptop. It looks activated but as soon as I try to print it asks to reinstall software. Can anybody help?
Thanks for the tutorial! I was able to make a few step forward but my CLJ1600 is still not printing. The steps above made the printer appears in the list of available printers. I have noticed in Device Manager that the printer is not recognized by Win10: “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I get this message on all USB ports of my computer. The printer is working fine on an XP and WIN7 computer. The driver that I have mentioned on this page should work because that driver is specifically for Windows 10 specifically. I suggest that you update your Windows to the latest version and power drain your printer as well. Just changed the USB cable for a bigger one (24AWG instead of 28AWG).
